Hi! My name is Mason, and I'm a first year student at UC Berkeley in the College of Letters and Science! I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, but I have spent most of my life in a small city called Arcadia--an hour away from LA. In high school I built custom computer rigs for friends, family friends, and professionals. I run a small YouTube channel connecting software and hardware in video games, applications, and computer builds. I also played tennis for all 4 years, as well as serving as Manager of the team for 2 years! Here at the University of California, Berkeley, I have made it onto the Berkeley Formula Racing team in my Freshman year thanks to my writing skills that helped me present myself in the best light possible to the team's leads. Better yet, my FERPA Release file here at Berkeley indicated that my UC essays were a driving factor towards my admission earlier this year. Hence I know that what I wrote about and how I presented myself on paper resonated strongly with both admissions officers that read over my application. 

College application season for me was extremely stressful, and I would have loved to have someone by my side to help me with my essays. I know exactly how it feels to be swarmed by deadlines and uncertainty as you choose the next 4 years of your life, but with the right guiding hand, it doesn't have to be so rough.

From applying to college and having sat through all the results, I learned that there is no "perfect student." There is no general model of a student that will get into their favorite schools, and it all really comes down to showing your true self. No one necessarily needs the highest grades or test scores. In my opinion at least, genuine writing and storytelling/reflection play pivotal roles in presenting yourself successfully and convincingly to the admissions committee. I believe that writing can be really powerful, and it's a great way to differentiate oneself from the masses applying to college every year. That being said, I'm proficient in revising essays but more importantly refining the structure of essays. What you write about, how, and in what order, matters! On the personal side of things, I'm a really patient person as I've worked with tutoring my brother for 3 years, so please don't feel scared of asking me anything at all--even if that's asking more about me and my high school life! I look forward to working with you!
