End-User License Agreement

OnNetwork Academic Integrity Tool — End-User License Terms

Effective date: September 1st, 2025

These End-User License Terms (“Terms”) govern your use of the academic integrity and originality-checking features available on OnNetwork (the “Tool”). By accessing or using the Tool—whether through the Mentorship Evaluation or elsewhere—you agree to these Terms in addition to OnNetwork’s Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Tool.

1) Acceptance & Eligibility

You accept these Terms by using the Tool or by clicking to agree where presented. You must be 18 or older, or have the legal capacity to form a binding contract, or use the Tool with the consent of a parent/guardian if you are under the age of majority in your state.

2) What the Tool Does

The Tool provides hosted software that analyzes submitted writing for originality and related indicators. Reports generated by the Tool are one input among many in assessing writing quality or academic integrity. Instructors, mentors, and institutions must exercise independent professional judgment when making decisions.

3) Changes to the Tool

OnNetwork may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Tool at any time without prior notice.

4) Third-Party Components

The Tool may rely on third-party technologies or service providers. Those components are provided as-is and without warranties of any kind. OnNetwork disclaims all responsibility for third-party components to the fullest extent permitted by law.

5) License We Grant You

Subject to these Terms, OnNetwork grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Tool for non-commercial educational purposes in connection with your role on OnNetwork (e.g., applicant, student, mentor, or administrator). No other rights are granted by implication or otherwise.

You may not: (a) copy, modify, distribute, publish, or sell any part of the Tool; (b) rent, lease, sublicense, or provide the Tool to others; (c) reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code; or (d) circumvent security or usage limits.

6) Ownership

Except for the limited license above, all right, title, and interest in and to the Tool, its reports and formats, and related intellectual property belong to OnNetwork and its licensors.

7) License You Grant to OnNetwork (Your Submissions)

By submitting essays or other content to the Tool (“Submissions”), you grant OnNetwork and its service providers a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, store, reproduce, analyze, and process your Submissions (a) to provide and operate the Tool and related services, and (b) to maintain, enhance, and improve the Tool (including model and database quality). This license survives termination.
Where permitted by your institution or program rules, you may request that a specific Submission be deleted by contacting [insert OnNetwork contact email] with sufficient identifying details; some residual or archival copies may persist for legal, security, or backup purposes.

Other communications (not Submissions): Ideas, feedback, or suggestions you send to OnNetwork may be used without restriction or compensation and do not include your personally identifiable student data or grades.

8) Account & Access Security

You are responsible for all activity under your account and for safeguarding credentials and class or program access codes. Share them only as appropriate for your role. Notify [insert OnNetwork contact email] immediately of any unauthorized use.

9) Appropriate Use

Use the Tool only for lawful purposes and as described in these Terms. Do not upload unlawful, infringing, harmful, or abusive content; do not interfere with others’ use; and do not use automated means to access the Tool except through documented interfaces.

10) Reports & Disclosures

Originality or similarity reports indicate textual overlap; they do not conclusively determine plagiarism. If you choose to share a report with third parties, you do so at your own risk and responsibility, and you must comply with applicable law and institutional policy.

11) Suspension & Termination

OnNetwork may suspend or terminate your access to the Tool to protect the service, comply with law, prevent liability, or respond to a breach of these Terms. You may stop using the Tool at any time. If your access ends, you may lose access to Tool-generated data and related files.

12) Privacy

OnNetwork handles personal data in accordance with its Privacy Policy. By using the Tool, you acknowledge that your Submissions may be processed, stored, and analyzed within the United States for the purposes described in Section 7.

13) Warranty Disclaimer

THE TOOL AND ALL RELATED INFORMATION AND REPORTS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS,” “AS AVAILABLE,” AND WITH ALL FAULTS. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ONNETWORK DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, AND QUIET ENJOYMENT. INTERNET-BASED SERVICES MAY BE INTERRUPTED OR COMPROMISED; ONNETWORK IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SUCH RISKS.

14) Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ONNETWORK AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE TOOL OR REPORTS, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY.
YOUR SOLE REMEDY FOR DISSATISFACTION WITH THE TOOL IS TO STOP USING IT. WHERE A LIMITATION IS NOT PERMITTED BY LAW, IT SHALL APPLY ONLY TO THE FULLEST EXTENT ALLOWED.

15) Indemnification

To the extent allowed by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless OnNetwork and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and service providers from claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from: (a) your use of the Tool; (b) your violation of law or third-party rights; or (c) your breach of these Terms.

16) Changes to These Terms

OnNetwork may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the effective date or providing additional notice where required. Continued use of the Tool after changes becomes your acceptance of the updated Terms.

17) Governing Law & Venue (U.S.)

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You consent to exclusive jurisdiction and venue in the state and federal courts located in [insert county], California for any dispute arising out of or relating to the Tool.

18) Miscellaneous

If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be replaced by a valid term that most closely reflects the original intent, and the remainder will stay in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without OnNetwork’s consent; OnNetwork may assign them in connection with a reorganization, merger, or sale of assets. Notices may be provided via email, the platform, or mail.
